Cat Cafe? I've heard of these! Tell me more!
The goal of a Cat Cafe is to provide a fun, cage-free, low stress place for adoptable cats and cat lovers to meet and socialize. We have opened our new non-profit partner, Cat Tales Rescue NC, and act as a giant foster home for their kitties. Visitors can spend an hour at a time in the Cat Lounge, sipping on drinks, watching cat antics, and getting all the purrs. Check out our TV feature HERE!
That sounds reasonable. But....Does it SMELL?
Cat Cafes would probably not be a thing if they did. We will make extra sure our kitties have the cleanest, freshest place to chill while they are with us. We have installed a super duper ventilation system, and there will be doting staff to keep the place spotless.
So how many kitties will be there?
The State of North Carolina says we can have up to 12 at a time. They are all spayed, neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped!
Can I bring my cat from home?
Please, NO! We will have plenty that will want your undivided attention.
Do I need a reservation?
YES!!! We stay consistently booked. We will allow walk-ins when there is space but that is EXTREMELY rare. We encourage reservations so we don’t disappoint you, so click here to book. NOTE: our weekends can book up as much as 3 -4 weeks out! Please plan accordingly.
Can I have my child’s birthday party at Cat Tales?
We no longer allow parties or gatherings for kids. This is for the health and wellbeing of our cats and staff. Thank you for understanding.
Is there an age policy?
For the safety of our cats and little ones, children 6 and under will be allowed in the Cat Lounge when the entire room is booked by the family.
PLEASE NOTE: to book the entire room, you will need to be sure to book a total of 8 individual spots! PLEASE make sure you have booked the session appropriately for guests under 7, out of respect for our other visitors. :)
For children 7-13, we will require an adult to sign a waiver and be with them at all times in the Cat Lounge. For kids 14-17, we will need a waiver signed by an adult, but they can be in the lounge on their own.
Cool! There are special events?!?
Yes! We look forward to bringing back events, such as Yoga with Cats, Crafting with Cats, Book Clubs with Cats, Kids' Story Time with Cats...Bingo Nights, Mewvie Nights... the list of opportunities is endless! We will also encourage community involvement with sessions on topics like Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR), kitten foster programs, and more. Have an idea for a special event, private event, or know someone who would be great to lead a discussion or class? Let us know! We're all ears!
What should I expect when I enter the Cat Lounge?
Cats sleep. A LOT! But with 12 in the space at all times, there will always be some feline entertainment. The Cat Lounge is 2 stories, so there will be cats everywhere! We ask that you do not wake a sleeping cat and picking up cats is not allowed. Our best advice is to find a comfy spot, grab a toy, and see who chooses you!
I met my soul cat. What now?
That's the best news! Please read our Steps for a Purrfect Adoption, then fill out an adoption application provided on the website of our rescue partner, Cat Tales Rescue NC. They will contact you to discuss your application and to help guide you through the process of bringing a new fur baby into your home. They collect an adoption fee of $150 which helps cover the cost of getting a kitty adoption ready. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and health check.
I want to be involved! How can I help?
We love hearing that! We have an Amazon Wish List that is full of things we need to get up and running, as well as things we will always need. Want to shop locally? We love getting things from Phydeaux, a fantastic locally owned pet supply store. Lightly used towels and blankets will always be appreciated. If we can't use it, our rescue partner can!
There are other ways to be involved if you would rather give your time. We are always in need of volunteers to help with cat transport, application reviews, home visits, and more. We would love to hear from you!
